Why do you volunteer for Team Corona Busters?
To be honest, sewing masks for this purpose, gives me purpose. I’m proud of the work I’ve done with GTCB. But I’m much prouder of the Team’s bigger achievement: delivering thousands of masks at no charge, to those who need them. When I cut fabric and sew, I honor my Southern grandmother and the women in my family who taught me this craft, and I know they’re looking down on all our efforts with a smile.
Tell us a funny fact about yourself.
I’ve been in California for over 50 years and still have a southern accent.
Tell us about your pets, partner and what city do you live in.
I don’t have a pet at the moment, I shared a Chocolate Lab, Chloe, with my daughter. Called her my granddog. She left us last year after 14 years of joy.
No partner, lost the love of my life in 2001, would have celebrated 50th anniversary this year.
I live in Port Hueneme, 300 steps to the beach. Moved here in 2011 and I have enjoyed every minute.
Estimate of number of masks ironed.
I’ve made approximately 3-5 miles of bias/binding tape since March 2020, made and finished probably 500-700 masks.
